Recently, Budweiser executed a “Poolball” campaign that went viral and was deemed a huge success in Argentina with consumers. Sticking with bar games, Mahou & Madrid Table-Soccer Federation created an entire event revolved around “foosball.”Spain’s legacy with foosball is long and well documented. Mahou  partnered with two of the stars of Spanish football: Iker Casillas (Goalkeeper of Real Madrid) and David Villa (Striker of Barcelona)  to be the face of this campaign.

Mahou erected a large stadium resembling an actual foosball table where 96 teams (Evenly split to support each soccer star) competed to win tickets to an upcoming Real Madrid vs Barcelona, autographed merchandise, a party with the 2 stars  and much more. Mahou found a clever way to promote the intense in-country soccer club rivalry. Generating buzz is one thing that Mahou anticipated. Their ultimate goal is to make relevant connections with consumers who will describe the brand as their “favorite” and act accordingly.

Axe Creates a Jam Box To Engage Snowboard Enthusiasts with Music

Axe recently leveraged its designation as an Official Partner of the 10th annual Mont Saint-Sauveur Ride Shakedown by partnering with Steel Space Productions to create an innovative activation footprint driven by music. Axe and Steel Space designed an "Axe Jam Box", an exclusive deejay booth that engaged fans with hip tunes and a variety of brand-centric games and prizes. Axe generated excitement within the footprint with music and a cool "Spin the Axe Bottle" game (1:03 of video below) that allowed participants to win a variety of prizes.

The Axe Jam Box was situated at the base of a mountain where thousands of fans awaited their favorite snowboarders and amateurs upon the completion of their runs on the slopes. Steel Space Productions is a unique vendor that creates unbelievable activation displays for clients out of reusable containers that can be customized in every way possible. The company's work is innovative and definitely worth a look.

The 2011 NHL Heritage Classic - From a Fan's Perspective

The National Hockey League recently treated fans to an incredible experience at the 2011 Heritage Classic. The outdoor hockey game, hosted at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta was a huge success - attracting 41,000+ fans and a plethora of Official Partners with extensive activation displays on-site.

Enclosed below is a terrific video that highlights the fan experience at the 2011 NHL Heritage Classic. As depicted in the video, fans enjoyed a complete hockey experience that included shooting competitions, youth hockey, street teams, beer gardens, giant inflatables, pre-game flyovers and fireworks, and music and entertainment.

Activation of the Day - STA Travel, Outback Bowl

Are you looking for new ways to promote supporting travel agency partners on game day? Are you looking for new ways to get fans excited about travel destinations?

STA Travel supported its partnership with the 2009 Outback Bowl by featuring an engaging display at the event's Fan Fest located near Gate D. The STA Travel display featured a football toss exhibit where fans could win free giveaways (t-shirts and koozies) by hitting a target in the center of a massive Australia map (which tied into the Outback Bowl thematic).

STA also held drawings on-site for free travel and have away some Outback Bowl mementos that fans could redeem for cash off their next travel purchase with STA. To drive interest in the football toss display, STA personnel displayed a giant scoreboard that tallied points scored by fans of each team.

Activation of the Day - The 100 Yard Shot

Prior to Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, 225 football fans participated in a 100-yard long shot promotion courtesy of Shotsticks, Sobieski Vodka, and Bartender in the Box. The act served as a great publicity stunt for the brands and provides a benchmark for brands who are looking to engage fans in the tailgate lots prior to a major event.

Activation of the Day - adidas

With the 2010 World Cup officially 183 days away, adidas displayed a collection of giant replica soccer balls from past World Cup events. The display is located adjacent to a main route along the waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa. Check it out below:
